NightScenes Landscape Lighting Professionals – Austin

February 27th, 2013

Night Scenes logo

As a long term resident of the beautiful central Texas hill country, President and Chief Designer, Paul R. Gosselin, Sr., has built NightScenes Corporation around the small town values of integrity and hard work. He is passionate about providing top quality service for a fair price and appreciates the value of relationships over making a fast buck. Although Paul worked as a trade electrician for fifteen years, cultivating an education specific to his field as a lighting designer has been an ongoing priority since he started his own company in 2003. That heartfelt desire to learn—and then share his knowledge and experience—has set his work apart from the ordinary.

Informe Toledo

The Americas Series: Informe Toledo (Toledo Report)
March 23, 5:30pm
This film weaves a plot where the passion and mastery of the artist are inseparable from his involvement in historical and social matters. Using a series of 15 self-portrait prints of Francisco Toledo (considered by many to be one of the greatest living Mexican artists), this exciting documentary takes us on a journey from Paris of the 1960s to political conflict in Oaxaca in 2006. Producer and director Albino Alvarez discusses the making of Informe Toldeo. Cocktail reception immediately following the screening.Suggested program donation: $10.

Join us for Q&A with Ms. Kaegi following the screening.Runtime: 50 minutes.

Visual Acoustics
March 28, 1pm
This film celebrates the life and career of Julius Shulman, the world’s greatest architectural photographer, whose images brought modern architecture to the American mainstream. Shulman, who passed away in 2009, captured the work of nearly every modern and progressive architect since the 1930s including Frank Lloyd Wright, Richard Neutra, John Lautner and Frank Gehry. His images epitomized the singular beauty of Southern California’s modernist movement and brought its iconic structures to the attention of the general public. This unique film is both a testament to the evolution of modern architecture and a joyful portrait of the magnetic, whip-smart gentleman who chronicled it with his unforgettable images. Introduction by architect Eddie Jones, Jones Studio.Visual Acoustics won the Mercedes-Benz Audience Award for Best Documentary at the Palm Springs International Film Festival; the Audience Award for Best Documentary at the Austin Film Festival; the Grand Jury Prize for Best Documentary at the Lone Star International Film Festival; and Outstanding Achievement in Documentary Filmmaking at the Newport Beach Film Festival.Runtime: 83 minutes.
